In addition, we make a point of meeting each of our clients personally, regardless of their location at no additional cost to them. This enables us to provide our seamless services to clients anywhere in the world.

OUR HISTORY
After a highly successful career with some of South Africa’s top legal firms, Dr Nicolaas Marais decided that he had enough of the bureaucracy associated with bigger companies and set out on his own.
“I formed Marais Attorneys because in my experience clients tend to slip through the cracks in larger firms and I wanted to be able to provide them with the peace of mind of knowing that they will be well looked after by people who not only care, but who are also driven by results”.
With our expertise in a multitude of areas, we serve an array of clients from local and international corporate companies to individuals, many of whom have been clients since we opened our doors.

Started practicing since 1986, Nicolaas has accumulated a great deal of knowledge, experience and skills in a variety of areas. In addition to his expertise in Commercial Litigation, Media Law, Labour Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Black Empowerment Transactions, Competition Law and drafting commercial documentation. His personal passion for flying has led to him becoming an authority on Aviation and Space Law.

Amani Mahlangu

Amani Mahlangu started as a Candidate attorney at our firm and has now become a Partner. She joined us in January 2024 and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Free State. Amani's primary interests lie in the areas of business and commercial law and she is working towards attaining her Masters' degree in these disciplines.

Luyanda began her legal journey after obtaining a BA Law (with International Relations) and an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand. She joined Marais Attorneys as a legal intern and is currently completing her articles of clerkship at the firm. Over the course of her career, she has developed a strong foundation in several areas of law, with a particular focus on labour, property, and commercial law. An avid reader and writer, Luyanda thrives on tackling complex legal questions while continuously expanding her professional knowledge.
